How Long Does It Take to Build a Pool?

December 18, 2019 By Goodall Staff

Pool Construction Jigsaw Puzzle

An easy answer to the question, “How long does it take to build a pool” is, “It all depends.”  It depends on the type of pool, the materials needed for the pool, how long it takes to get a permit, and many other factors.  At Goodall Pools & Spas, we offer everything you need from start to finish, so, we can help you determine your needs and make an estimate as to how long it will take.

What Type of Pool do You Want?

The first question that needs to be answered is what type of pool do you want?  There are basically three types:

  1. Vinyl liner in-ground pool.  This type takes the longest to build.
  2. Fiberglass pool.  This type may go fairly quickly since the fiberglass is already built.
  3. Above ground pool.  Installing this type of pool is the fastest type of installation.

In addition to the type of pool, the time involved also depends on the different materials needed to be ordered.

Permits are always required, and the first thing we do for our clients is to begin the permit process.  It may take three weeks or longer just to get the permit.

The building process can get pretty involved.  A site analysis must be done.  Then, after getting the permit the materials need to be ordered.  Additionally, we must make sure we have an opening in our schedule to build the pool.

How We Help at Goodall Pools & Spas

At Goodall Pools & Spas, we do not use a cookie cutter approach.  Each pool is built specifically to meet the plans of the homeowner.  We plan around the individual’s desires and goals.

There is also construction around the pool, depending on the type and amount of decking required, landscaping to be added, and other amenities to be included.  We also need to consider the weather.  Last summer, it rained a lot which resulted in a delay in pool construction.  We can’t yet predict how that will affect pool-building this year.

We can say that once the contract for building the pool is signed, and we receive a commitment, it will be a couple of months at a minimum to get the pool built.  Contact us as soon as possible so we can begin the process.
