Swim Spas: A Great Option for Summer Staycations

June 15, 2020 By Goodall Staff

At Goodall Pool & Spas, we have the perfect solution for your staycation this year.  Every year, as summer approaches we always receive a lot of calls about installing swimming pools.  We sell in-ground pools and above ground pools, but a great option for your backyard swimming experience is a Hydropool swim spa.

Relaxing in a Swim Spa

What is a Swim Spa?

A swim spa is the best of both worlds between a pool and a spa.  Swim spas use jets that create a current.  Traditionally, you use a swim spa to swim against the current and feel as though you are swimming laps in a regular pool.  Most swim spas have a designated seating area with jets, just like a spa.  This area is great for relaxing, even as someone is swimming.

However, a swim spa can be used for much more than just swimming laps.  Hydropool swim spas include access to workout videos, and Hydropool has an aqua fitness package that includes resistance bands, water weights, a buoyancy belt, and more.  This is a great way to workout at home, whether you are just starting a workout regime, or an established athlete.

Swim spas are also popular with families due to their versatility.  The swim area doubles as a great play area for kids, especially if they like boogie boarding.  You can also use the swim jets to create your own lazy river.  The kids will feel like they have a waterpark in their own back yard!  With the jets off, it can also be an enjoyable place to socialize with friends on evenings or weekends, just like you would in a swimming pool or spa.  Swim Spas are a great way to entertain family and friends year-round.

Benefits of a Swim Spa

A swim spa can be installed in as little as one day.  There are a lot of options on how to set up a swim spa.  The quickest and easiest installation is to put it on a level concrete slab.  You can also install a deck around it or install it partially or fully in the ground.  You can also put hardscape around it as well.  We can help you decide how to install the swim spa, so it is an aesthetically pleasing addition to your backyard.

Hydropool swim spas are made in Canada, and designed for arctic Canadian winters, so operating costs are as low as a dollar a day!  Additionally, Traditional inground or above ground pools can only be used 5-6 months out of the year in central Pennsylvania, however with a swim spa you will get 12 months of swimming, personal training, and massage therapy all from one easy to own, self-cleaning body of water.

There is not a lot of travel happening right now with many pandemic restrictions still in effect.  We have no idea how long those restrictions are going to stay, but meanwhile, a swim spa may be exactly what you need.  It will make your staycation much more fun.  An added bonus is that you will enjoy your swim spa for many years after the coronavirus is a thing of the past.  You can always have your swim spa for a staycation.

For more information on buying and installing a Hydropool swim spa, visit any of our Goodall Pools & Spas store locations, fill out a form on our website, or give us a call.
