What Products Do I Need to Open My Own Swimming Pool?

products to open my own swimming pool
Here are some products you need to open your pool.

The new year is in full swing. Spring is just around the corner. That means it’s almost time to reopen your swimming pool for the year! As you prepare for the important task of waking the pool from its long winter’s nap, there are certainly several things on your mind. What products do I need to open my own swimming pool? Where can I get the items I need? When do I get started?

Goodall Pools and Spas has been answering these questions and more for 60 years. When new families come to the area, our company is known as the friendly, helpful pool supply store that is available to help with all of your pool needs. Let’s look at the products that will make your pool opening a breeze.

Essential Chemicals You Need to Open Your Pool

When you prepare to open the swimming pool, there are a few essential pool chemicals that you will need. Quality chemicals are necessary in order to help the pool and the water be ready for swim season. Goodall Pools carries Bioguard® pool chemicals – products that have been proven to be reliable.

First, a great chemical to start with is Pool Opening Complete. This is a 3-in-1 product from BioGuard that works best in cold water. It is expertly designed to help remove the winter filth, to bring clarity to the water, and to clean the water quickly. Next, a shock treatment is also a helpful chemical to utilize at pool opening. Because of its high concentration of cleansing elements, shock is useful for many things as well – from helping to kill algae to helping the chlorine level adjust quickly.

Another item that cannot be omitted when you are preparing the pool for swim season is a sanitizer. Chlorine tablets are the most commonly used sanitizing agent for swimming pools, but there are alternatives to chlorine, as well, like bromine. The sanitizer is constantly working to kill bacteria in the water to keep it safe for swimming.

Finally, an algaecide is also recommended for the pool opening process. Water that has been sitting stagnant for months may have algae growing in it. An algaecide will work to quickly kill the algae growth and to help to prevent a recurrence during pool season.

Extra Components to Also Consider

So what products do I need to open my own swimming pool? Goodall Pools and Spas has online shopping options. We also have 5 convenient locations for your pool product needs. Now you know what products you need and where to find them. But when do you need to get started? Another great question!

Central Pennsylvania pools need to begin their waking up process in early to mid-spring. Why, you ask? Because waiting too long can allow algae to do some messy work in the pool that will require extra effort to clear up. We consistently advise customers that opening earlier is always better in the long run.

Need premier pool products? Look no further than Goodall Pools. Our knowledgeable staff is available to help you locate all of the items you need for a smooth, successful pool opening.
