Can Kids Use a Swim Spa?

July 12, 2021 By Goodall Staff

Parents and grandparents love to spend time with their children and grandchildren, no matter what the activity of choice may be. This bonding time is very important and enjoyable. If you own a spectacular swim spa, you naturally will spend a lot of time there. This means you may want to know, “Can kids use a swim spa?” Our immediate response is YES!

You’ve come to a great source to find your answer. Goodall Pools & Spas has been helping the people of Pennsylvania with their pools and spas for almost 60 years. Let’s dive a little further into the topic of children using swim spas.

Features Fit for All Family Members

A swim spa is a great two-in-one piece of machinery that gives you both the ability to swim and also to soak in a spa. It doesn’t get much better than that. People of all ages can use a swim spa and enjoy its features.

A swim spa is, in part, designed for amazing aquatic exercise. There is a resistance current that provides an extra challenge for swimmers. This stream is customizable according to who is using it. Children may not use this feature as much for exercising, but they can definitely have fun with it.

The other aspect of a swim spa is its massaging jets that provide a relaxing massage. Children can also enjoy this component. You just need to ensure that the temperature is not too high and that they do not stay in the water for too long. Adults can enjoy relaxing, while the children splash in the warm water.

Always Accompany Kids for Aquatic Activities

Safety is your number one priority. Always accompany kids in the swim spa. This gives you peace of mind. You also get to make memories together.

Watch the Water Temperature

Since the water temperature of a swim spa is adjustable, you can all enjoy refreshing water in the summer and warmer water in the winter. Swim spas are known for their year-round enjoyment.

Babies should not be in spas at all. Adolescents can use them but only for a limited time period. Normal spa temperatures (just over 100 degrees) are safe for a few minutes for children. Lowering the temperature to just above body temperature (98 degrees) makes the water a little safer for children. At that temp, they can stay in for about 15 minutes before needing a break. Lower temperatures, like those of a swimming pool, are safe for longer periods of time.

Keep Fluids Flowing Frequently

Remind children — and yourself — to drink plenty of water while you are enjoying the swim spa together. Hydration is always important. During the hot days of summer, even more water intake is ideal.

Keep the Silent Swim Spa Covered

When everyone is done enjoying the swim spa, be sure to put the cover back on. This helps to keep curious little ones from getting back into the water unsupervised.

Enjoy Frequent Family Fun
